Turtle Derby

A net $10,000 was raised during Covenant Hospice's first Turtle Derby on the Delta fundraiser held at Five Rivers Delta Resource Center in Spanish Fort. Proceeds will benefit unfunded patient care and non-reimbursement programs in Mobile County. About 720 rubber turtles raced to the finish during the event.

The Eastern Shore Centre held Safe Kids Day Sept. 20. Kids were fingerprinted by the Spanish Fort Police Department, the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo brought animals from the zoo and safety booths were set up around the fountain with education information for parents and children.
