Students at Daphne East Elementary get some holiday shopping done a little early at Kids' Korner, a PTA-sponsored event that lets students shop for family and friends in the school gymnasium after finishing their daily exercises. Items ranged from 25-cent bouncy balls to $15 glassware.

Daphne's 2008 Christmas parade

Daphne officially kicked off the holiday season with its annual Christmas parade and tree lighting celebration. The parade--with more than 50 floats sponsored by local churches, schools and organizations--snaked its way down Main Street. Technical difficulties kept the tree from fully lighting up but couldn't dim the festive spirit as almost 1000 people attended the holiday tradition.
